Mekong Vision 3.0 Program

The Mekong River is an important part of the geographic, economic, and political landscape of the region. It flows through six riparian countries (China, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam) and provides support to many economic sectors in this subregion including agriculture, fisheries, energy, navigation, and trade. Moreover, the river is at the center of many other social and cultural considerations, often with competing demands for water and other natural resources.

To support countries of the Mekong River Basin to solve challenges in water and natural resources, the World Bank Group has launched the Mekong Vison 3.0 Program, aiming to catalyze shared understanding for better resource utilization and set forth new directions for regional cooperation.
