UK announces $51mn grant for low-carbon projects in 16 countries including Vietnam

The UK-funded Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) program will be extended until 2029 with additional funding of £40 million (nearly US$51 million) to support at least 800 low-carbon projects in 16 countries, including Vietnam, according to a British diplomat.

The CFA Vietnam has so far undergone two phases, with phase 1 lasting from December 2022 to May 2023 and incorporating nine projects. During phase 2, slated from August 2023 to May 2024, 11 projects aimed at tackling climate change impacts in Vietnam have received assistance from the program. These projects all focused on clean energy and energy transition, e-mobility, AFOLU (agriculture, forestry and other land uses), circular economy, waste management/plastic recycling, and low-carbon manufacturing, and have the potential to benefit communities across the country, PwC Vietnam said.
