General Statistics Office announces employment data
As many as 1.2 million people have been laid off in the first six months of this year due to Covid-19 pandemic. Statistics from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam showed that the number of employed people in the first six months of the year was significantly lower compared to 2019.
The General Statistics Office of Vietnam proposed several solutions to boost the economy such as supporting packages for disadvantaged workers such as people with weak skills. Support packages for firms in hard-hit sectors like tourism and retail should be implemented more quickly. Local firms should change operations accordingly to survive and have training plans for their employees.
